Uruguayan wineries are characterized by being family enterprises with a limited boutique style production where you will most likely be received and served by one of the family members during your visit. The predominant grape variety in the country is Tannat, which gives rise to an intense, fruity wine high in tannins: the ideal one with which to pair the traditional asado. They also produce remarkable white and sparkling wines among which the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Albariño stand out.
Uruguay is a country with beautiful beaches and cities that retain their architectural heritage. In general, wineries are located near the most popular tourist destinations: Montevideo, Colonia and Punta del Este.
